DAY 1 : CUSCO – PUERTO MALDONADO, MONTE AMAZONICO LODGE – MONKEY ISLAND
Transfer from the airport in Puerto Maldonado to the port Captaincy to board our motor boat and navigate the currents of the lower Madre de Dios River for an hour, as soon as we arrive at our lodge reception and welcome with a refreshing drink characteristic of our Amazon rainforest, then designation of their rooms and a brief introduction on the existing biodiversity. Lunch.
In the afternoon we board our boat for 30 minutes that will take us to the monkey island, home to more than 4 species of monkeys that are frequently observed (spider monkey, martin monkey, squirrel monkey, etc.), as well as some rodents and many species of birds. Return to the lodge and enjoy a delicious traditional dinner.
Night walks or activities are possible every night, which will be at the disposal of the organization of our guides.
DAY 2: MONTE AMAZÓNICO LODGE – SANDOVAL LAKE
Early in the morning breakfast and start a hike for about 1 hour and a half to the vicinity of one of the most beautiful lakes of the Tambopata Reserve LAKE SANDOVAL which shows a unique attraction of flora and fauna. Lake Sandoval is home to one of the most endangered species: the giant otter which is observed in family groups fishing, eating and playing with each other, black caimans, parrots and parrots perched on the palm trees and a great variety of lake birds. During this visit we will use a small canoe to explore, photograph and connect with the exuberant Amazonian nature.
In the afternoon we have a walk through the vastness of the jungle, in search of some species of birds and some other creatures of the Amazon.
DAY 3: MONTE AMAZÓNICO LODGE – TARICAYA PROJECT
After a healthy breakfast, we will have the opportunity to discover the amazing and complicated ecosystem of the Amazon. This day we will be transported for an hour downstream towards the taricaya project, where there is a system of interpretative trails that shows the different levels of the primary forest, visit the taricaya project and entrance to the canopy walk platform over the treetops.
DAY 4: MONTE AMAZÓNICO LODGE – PARROT CLAY LICK – PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO OR LIMA
In the morning we leave very early, heading to the parrots and parakeets clay lick. We will be driven for 1 hour and a half in our boat, where hundreds of noisy parrots and parakeets gather every morning to eat clay and complete their final diet. After this fantastic show we head to the city of Puerto Maldonado to take the flight to the city of Cusco or Lima.
The visit to the city of Puerto Maldonado will be at the entrance or on the return of the last day.
