SALKANTAY TREK - MACHUPICCHU

The Salkantay Trek is an alternative route to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It consists of a 5 or 4 day hike to the Inca Citadel through the town of Aguas Calientes, located at the foot of the Wonder of the World. On the route we cross impressive landscapes and places such as the Humantay Lagoon, a beautiful lagoon of turquoise waters and the snow-capped Salkantay, whose summit is at 6,721 meters above sea level and whose slopes the tourist crosses at 4,572 meters above sea level. We also visit the beautiful Mollepata Valley, the ruins of Llactapata and we pass through tropical territories abundant in flora and fauna. The last stretch is parallel to the Vilcanota River until arriving in Aguas Calientes, from where we walk or take a bus to the wonder of Machupicchu. It is worth mentioning that this route has been rated as one of the 25 best trekking routes in the world by National Geographic magazine.
