DAY 01: Cusco – Ecomanu Lodge
In the morning we pick you up from your Hotel in Cusco at 6:00 a.m. in our vehicle to travel through Andean mountains, beautiful landscapes, rural folkloric communities like Paucartambo and Ninamarca (chullpas or funerary tombs) that belong to the pre-Inca LUPACAS culture. Then we climb the last mountain to reach Acjanaco, entrance to the MANU NATIONAL PARK, from where we descend to the lush cloud forest, which houses a variety of flora and fauna. Being an ideal place for epiphytes, orchids, bromeliads, etc.. At 15:00 pm. we take a walk into the cloud forest to appreciate the National bird of Peru. The colorful Cock of the Rock in its ritual mating dance, as well as toucans, trogons, quetzals, monkeys and hopefully the South American spectacled bear (Tremantus ornatos). Overnight at our comfortable lodge.
Swimming and fishing in the rivers and using the hammocks in the lodge is free and safe for all our visitors.
DAY 02: EcoManu lodge.
Early in the morning we will wake up to the sound of birdsong and walk in the high Amazonian forest, visiting agricultural plantations of coca, yucca, and other products native to the place. We will observe a great variety of bird species, families of monkeys accompanied by spectacular waterfalls and then we will board our comfortable and equipped boat to start descending the turbulent waters of the upper Madre de Dios River.
By mid-afternoon we will begin a 4-hour excursion into the rainforest in search of birds, mammals, reptiles, medicinal plants and giant trees from which hang the famous lianas where you can swing like a real Tarzan, an unforgettable experience! Then the naturalist guide will illustrate the behavior and the interrelationship between the fauna and flora of the place.
Night walks or activities are possible every night, which will be at the disposal of the organization of our guides.
DAY 03: EcoManu Lodge.
Very early in the morning we embark towards the small clay lick (clay wall containing mineral salts) very important of the place, where many noisy parakeets, parrots and small macaws or parrots ingest the clay as a final diet for their detoxification. After this fantastic show, we start enjoying our healthy breakfast prepared by our chef. Continuing our expedition in the Amazon we head to the important Machuwasi oxbow lake and with the help of the telescope we will observe a great variety of lake birds such as herons, sparrow hawks, ducks, hoatzins, oropendolas, families of capybaras (the largest rodent in the world) and hopefully an impressive anaconda or boa. In the afternoon we will enjoy the tropical waters (swimming and fishing) and spend the night at our lodge.
DAY 04: EcoManu lodge – Atalaya – native village Santa Rosa de Huacaria
Early we head to the tourist port of Atalaya aboard our boat and from there in our private vehicle to the town of Pilcopata and the village of Huacaria.
Day to orient our gaze towards the Amazonian indigenous cultures of Manu. There are at least five recognized Amazonian indigenous groups in Manu, each with their own language, ways of gathering, hunting, fishing, religious rituals and ethnic medicine, these groups have different degrees of contact with civilization.
Huacaria has two ethnic groups, Matsiguenkas and Huachipaeris, which have the town of Pilcopata as a reference point. They have been articulating themselves to the market economy in terms of sustainable development through ecotourism. Overnight in camping tents in Huacaria N. C. N. Huacaria.
DAY 05: Santa Rosa de Huacaria Native Village – CUSCO.
Very early we will pack our luggage and enjoy a delicious typical breakfast in the village and then we will thank them for the kind hospitality of the families, then we will board our vehicle back to San Pedro to appreciate once again the famous Cock of the Rocks and continuing our return to the ancient capital of the Incas Cusco, and we arrive at 16:00 p.m. approx.
