DAY 01: Cusco – EcoManu Lodge
Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, to start our trip through Andean mountains, beautiful landscapes, rural folkloric communities like Paucartambo and Ninamarca (chullpas or funerary tombs) that belong to the pre-Inca LUPACAS culture. Then we climb the last mountain to reach Acjanaco, entrance to the MANU NATIONAL PARK, from where we descend to the lush cloud forest that houses a variety of flora and fauna. Being an ideal place for epiphytes, orchids, bromeliads, etc.. It is there where we will explore the cloud forest and can appreciate the National bird of Peru, the colorful Cock of the Rock in its ritual mating dance, as well as toucans, trogons, quetzals, monkeys and hopefully the South American spectacled bear (Tremantus ornatos). Continuing our excursion of the day, we head to the Patria Valley, Pilcopata small towns in the Amazon and then to the awaited tourist port of Aatalaya, where our motorized boat will be waiting to drive us down the Madre de Dios River towards the EcoManu lodge. We will have dinner and free time to enjoy some cold drinks. Then we will spend the night in our comfortable rooms.
Swimming and fishing in the rivers and using the hammocks in the lodges is free and safe for all guests.
DAY 02: EcoManu lodge.
In the morning we wake up to the sound of birdsong and the lush Amazon rainforest, it is time to enjoy our healthy breakfast to explore the lush Amazon forest through the different trails and appreciate the giant rubber trees, tonillos, ficus, which are home to groups of capuchin monkeys, woolly monkeys, howler monkeys and dozens of species of birds such as colorful parrots, parrots, woodpeckers, etc..
In mid-afternoon we head to the mammal lick, a very special place in the Amazon rainforest. After a 35 minute walk in the middle of the forest we will arrive at the hide and as the day turns into darkness, a truly fascinating and unforgettable new experience begins, you will be completely immersed in the Amazonian world.
The hide is a wooden platform more than 4 meters high, it is perfectly camouflaged among the trees, located in front of the mammal lick, there we will observe the mythical Amazonian tapir, peccaries, deer and hopefully the largest feline in South America Jaguar (Pantera onca). The observation platform includes mosquito nets and mats to wait for the arrival of the mammals.
Night walks or activities are possible every night, which will be at the disposal and organization of our guides. Overnight in our comfortable EcoManu lodge.
DAY 03: EcoManu Lodge.
Early in the morning we board our boat to go to the small colpa (clay wall containing mineral salts) very important of the place, where many noisy parakeets, parrots and small macaws or green parrots ingest the clay as a final diet for their detoxification. After this fantastic show, we will enjoy our healthy breakfast on site. Continuing our expedition in the Amazon we head to the important Machuwasi oxbow lake, with the help of the telescope we will observe a great variety of lake birds such as herons, sparrow hawks, ducks, hoatzins, oropendolas, families of capybaras (the largest rodent in the world) and hopefully an impressive anaconda or boa. In the afternoon we will enjoy the tropical waters (swimming and fishing).
In the evening we can have a short walk along the river, entering a little into the forest to find small abandoned lakes full of vegetation. Here we can find one of the largest reptiles of the Amazon. Our search begins with the preparation of our lamps and headlamps to look for the red eyes of the caimans and with the help of our guide we will observe closely these impressive reptiles.

DAY 04: EcoManu Lodge – Atalaya Port – Cusco.
Very early we return by boat to the port of Atalaya and then by bus back to San Pedro to appreciate once again the famous Cockerels of the rocks, continuing our return to the ancient capital of the Incas Cusco, and we arrive at 16:00 p.m. approx.
