Arrival in Puerto Maldonado (Biodiversity Capital of the World).
Day 1
Reception at the airport or bus terminal and transfer to the office for registration.
Transfer to the port of the Madre de Dios River where we will take the boat that will take us for an hour of crossing to our lodge – Welcome meeting, with a juice of delicious fruit of the area and installation in your rooms.
After a brief rest, we will have as an introduction a two hour walk in the dense tropical forest, guided by an expert local guide, who will take us through the trails and we can appreciate a variety of trees that can have more than five hundred years, as well as, you can observe some species of wild animals such as toucans, oropendolas, macaws, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc..
After lunch, we will visit the “monkey island”, located in front of our lodge across the Madre de Dios River where we will find different species such as the family of capuchin monkeys and monkey monkeys living on the island, return to the lodge.
At night we will go in search of white caimans that are usually found on sandbanks in the Madre de Dios River for which it will be necessary to carry a flashlight. Also, we will be able to see the capybara, the largest rodent in the world that can weigh up to 60 kilos, return to the lodge, dinner and rest.
Day 2
After breakfast, we will go by boat to the Tambopata National Reserve where we will walk 5 km in the middle of the dense rainforest, until we reach the Sandoval Lake, and one of the largest in the reserve, this lake is home to many wild animals. After lunch we will take a paddle boat ride and appreciate a great variety of birds and monkeys of different species, (shansho, cormorant, jacanas, puma garza, gallinazos, cotomono, monkey friar, black machin, pichicos and sloths). With luck we will have an encounter with a family of giant otters (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction and the largest caimans registered over 5 meters long, return to the lodge to enjoy the extraordinary spectacle of the sunset over the Madre de Dios River. Dinner and rest.
Day 3
5.30 a.m. in the morning we will take a short walk on the Canopy Walk-Way, over 30 meters high, which will allow us to appreciate nature from the highest possible height, we will also have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms we will observe different species of birds, such as toucans, macaws, tanagers, oropendolas, it will be a wonderful experience.
After breakfast we prepare for a challenging activity on the trees over 30 meters high, for this activity we will have an instructor guide who will give us a talk on how to use the safety harness for the Zip-line, feeling the adrenaline to slide through the trees, return to the Lodge. Lunch and rest.
In the afternoon the challenge is to cross the Madre de Dios river by kayak, on the way we will be able to appreciate the fascinating sunset.
Then we will be able to do some fishing in the Madre de Dios river, with a little patience we will see some species of fish such as catfish, palometas and others.
Day 4
Early in the morning we will take the boat to visit the parrot clay lick, a wall of earth (clay) on one side of the Madre de Dios River, where different species come down to eat this special and indispensable clay necessary for their metabolism. Return and breakfast.
After lunch we will visit an indigenous family that will make us participate in their daily activities, learning about their customs that they have maintained through time. Dinner and rest.
Day 5
Breakfast and return to the city, transfer to the airport and/or bus station.
